Dorothea Lee Carlyle, 82, of Mexico, passed away on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, at the University of Missouri Hospital in Columbia.

Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, July 13, at Arnold Funeral Home with Pastor Ryan Edwards officiating. Burial will follow in East Lawn Memorial Park.

Visitation is Saturday from 12 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home.

Dorothea was born on August 18, 1941 in Mexico, the daughter of Champ Clark and Mary Margaret (Beckley) Williams. On May 9, 1965 in Molino, she married Gerald Dale Carlyle.

Dorothea was a 1959 graduate of Mexico High School. Dorothea dedicated nearly five decades to her career as a mortgage loan processor for several banks from 1956 to 2005, later working as a cashier at the Sinclair Station, East Edge Express, for several years.

Known for her love of nature, Dorothea cherished sitting on her front porch, watching the birds and flowers. She had a passion for playing cards and games, cooking, and spending quality time with her family and friends. A member of Centennial Baptist Church, she served as a Vacation Bible School teacher, touching the lives of many children. Dorothea's warmth, kindness, and unwavering faith will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her husband, Gerald Carlyle of the home; two sons, Terry Dale (Ann) Carlyle of Centralia and Jeffrey David (Angela) Carlyle of Vandalia; seven grandchildren, Alexandria (Richard) Olivarri-Henke of San Antonio, Meaghan Tratchel, Beka Tratchel, Sarah Tratchel, Abigail Carlyle, Tyler Carlyle, and Katrina Carlyle; two brothers, Robert (Neola) Williams of Mexico and Walter (Susie) Williams of Mexico; and several nieces and nephews.

Dorothea was preceded in death by a daughter, Deidra Carlyle Olivarri, who passed away in 1997; and two sisters, Mary Ellen Davis of Moberly and Ida Mae Jones of Lafayette, Indiana.
