Donald was born on April 12, 1947 in Mexico, the son of Claude and Winnie Elizabeth (Davis) Silver. On March 4, 1966, he married Phyllis Silver in Mexico. She passed away on November 21, 2024.

Don was a man of many passions and simple joys. A skilled woodworker, he could often be found in his workshop, crafting pieces that reflected both his patience and creativity. He had a deep appreciation for the outdoors—whether casting a line on a quiet morning or exploring new places with his beloved wife by his side, travel and nature brought him peace. Donald was also an enthusiastic gun collector, cherishing the craftsmanship and history behind each piece. Above all, his greatest pride and joy were his grandchildren; he rarely missed a game or event, cheering them on with unwavering love and support. His presence, steady hands, and warm spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Survivors include two daughters, Cindy Sims of Mexico and Wendy Silver of Benton City; four grandchildren, Kalob (Samantha) Sims of Mexico, Darrian (Andrew Jahn) Sims of Mexico, Kaden Brooks of Laddonia and Kylie Brooks of Laddonia; five great-grandchildren, Clayton, Brantley, Lukas, Carl and Teagin; one brother, Gene (Lisa) Silver of Mexico and one sister, Laverne (Jim) Burnett of Columbia.

In addition to his wife, Phyllis, Donald was also preceded in death by one son, Jeffery Dale Silver; his parents, Claude and Winnie Silver; one brother, Carl Silver.

Memorials may be designated to the Class of 1965 Scholarship Fund or the Missouri Veterans Home. Memorials may be sent in care of Arnold Funeral Home, 425 S. Jefferson, Mexico, MO 65265.
