Donald Lee Farris Jr., affectionately known as "Crazy Cooter," age 60, of Mexico, Missouri, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, July 11, 2025.

Born on May 9, 1965, Donald was the son of Donald Lee Farris Sr. and Linda Fullington. He spent many years working for Pearl Motor Company and other local businesses, where he was known for his outgoing personality.

A natural jokester, Donald had a gift for making people feel welcome. He never met a stranger and could turn a quick trip to the store into a long visit, thanks to his love of conversation and connection.

Cooter enjoyed the simple pleasures in life — fishing, cooking up good food, listening to music, and spending time with animals. His vibrant personality and generous spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew him, especially his family and friends who he dearly loved to be around.

He is survived by his wife, Melyna VanDyne of the home; his children: Johnny (Stephanie) Lavender of Mexico, Christy (Tim) Allton of New Haven, Timothy (Trennette) Lavender of Mexico, Corey Farris of Louisiana, Katie Farris of St. Charles, Robbie VanDyne of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Melody Farris (Blake Duncan) of Centralia; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his mother, Linda Fullington; and siblings: Steve Farris of Mexico, Terry Farris of Montgomery City, Stefany Farris of Mexico, and Vicki Acton of Columbia.

Donald was preceded in death by his father, Donald Lee Farris Sr., and his daughter, Misty Ferrell.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.
