Devonne Marie "Susie" Williams, 78, of Mexico, Missouri, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, surrounded by her family.

A Memorial Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, May 30, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Martinsburg, with Father Derek Hooper officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass at the church.

Arrangements are under the direction of Arnold Funeral Home in Mexico.

Susie was born on October 30, 1946, in Mexico, Missouri, the daughter of Leonard "Slim" Wieschhaus and Marie Elizabeth (Halbracht) Wieschhaus. She was united in marriage to Walter L. Williams on June 5, 1965, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Martinsburg.

A graduate of Community R-6 High School, Susie worked for Walmart and later served as the Assistant Food Director for Mexico Public Schools. After retiring, she continued to stay active by working at the Sinclair Station on the east side of Mexico.

Susie had been a member of St. Brendan Catholic Church. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, camping, trout fishing, and planting flowers. Her backyard, decorated with a palm tree and flamingos, brought her special joy. She had served on a committee that honored soldiers who served in Desert Storm by presenting plaques in recognition of their service. Susie also volunteered many hours at the Mexico Senior Center.

She is survived by her loving husband of nearly 60 years, Walter Williams; three sons, Steve (Nancy) Williams of Elgin, Illinois, Brian (Sonica) Williams of Mexico, and Matthew (Tasha) Williams of Mexico; grandchildren, Sarah (Patrick) Corcoran, Shelby Williams, and Katelyn (Luke) Moore; step-grandchildren, Ashley Niekamp, Christina (Josh) Polston, and Shawn Hulsey; great-grandchildren, Brayden Halter, Braelynn Halter, Oliver Corcoran, Lincoln Corcoran, Baylor Moore, and Maelee Kate Moore; step-great-grandchildren, Aurora Halter, Natalie Daugherty, Emmie Polston, Noah Becker, and Hudson Becker. She is also survived by her brother, Anthony "Tony" (Terri) Wieschhaus of Hannibal; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Leonard "Slim" Wieschhaus; mother, Marie Elizabeth Lowry; stepfather, Benton Lowry; infant daughter, Angela Marie Williams; one great-grandson, Braxton Keith Williams; and brother, Lenny Wieschhaus.
