After the birth of her third child, Tessa, Dee opened and operated her own daycare for several years. She then worked for the Farmers Home Administration (FmHA). Her career continued in real estate, where she spent many years with Coldwell Banker Botts and Company and later worked with Nancy Roe.

After her time in real estate, Dee opened Cora's Antiques on the square. In retirement, she continued to stay active, working part-time for the Mexico-Audrain County Library.

Dee was also committed to community involvement. She was a member of the Noon Lions Club and served multiple terms on the board of United Credit Union.
