Darrel was born February 14, 1956, in Faith, South Dakota. He spent most of his life ranching and row crop farming. His spare time was engrossed in a variety of hobbies and talents. In his early years he enjoyed the rodeo life and was a championship team roper. As years progressed Darrel traded in his horses for horsepower, focusing on garden tractor pulling with Garden Tractor Pullers of Mid-Missouri Association. His family spent 20 years attending tractor pulls throughout Mid-Missouri and surrounding states. Upon retirement he focused his attention on simple days of fishing, camping, grilling, gardening, and raising his beloved mastiffs, Rooster and Dollar.
A hard-working family man, Darrel always had projects to finish and grandchildren to pick on. His presence is still felt, and his love and guidance will always be remembered by family and friends who leaned on him for strength, laughter, and knowledge.
A Celebration of Life will be held on August 13, 2022, at the Knights of Columbus, in Mexico, MO. We will begin at 11 a.m. and will allow anyone the chance to share how Darrel touched their lives and hearts. A meal will be provided after.
A private family burial will begin at 3 p.m. at the Williamsburg Cemetery, in Williamsburg, MO
The family requests memorials to be made to Dialysis Clinic, Inc of Mexico, MO where he received weekly dialysis treatments for the last 7 years.
