Thomas Daniel "Danny" Stuart, 81, of Mexico, passed away on Friday, February 20, 2026, at his home.

Memorial services will be held at 12 p.m. on Tuesday, February 24, at Arnold Funeral Home with Kevin Wilkerson officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home. Private interment will take place at a later date in Benton City Cemetery.

Danny was born on September 4, 1944, in Mexico, Missouri, the son of Lyndell A. and Ruth A. (Rodhouse) Stuart. He graduated from Mexico High School in 1962. Following high school, he married Nancy Ellen Berry, and to this union two cherished daughters were born, Tammy and Jill. On February 12, 1994, he married Delores Faye Baker Nettles at First Christian Church in Mexico. She survives.

Danny fulfilled a lifelong dream of becoming a farmer, a calling he had embraced since childhood. In addition to farming, he worked as a commodity broker and realtor. He also earned his pilot's license early in his career and served as a mentor to many young people throughout his life.

An avid outdoorsman, Danny enjoyed hunting duck, quail, and dove, as well as fishing. He took great pride in his large garden and found joy in working the land. He dearly loved his dog and treasured the simple pleasures of country life.

Survivors include his wife, Delores Stuart of the home; his children, Tammy (Kent) Scheible of Kansas City, Jill (Randy) Ray of Columbia, Don (Martha) Nettles of O'Fallon, Karen (Barry) Nordwald of Paris, Monte (Lori) Nettles of Lehigh, Utah, and Corey (Julie) Nettles of Fulton; 14 grandchildren, Will (Hannah) Scheible, Josh (Sara) Scheible, Zachary Scheible, Austin (Olivia) Ray, Parker Ray, Landon Ray, Ryan (Lynn) Nordwald, Tyler (Deanna) Nordwald, Austin (Kenzie) Nordwald, Kelsey Nettles, Riley Nettles, Cole Nettles, Wade Nettles, and Kalina Nettles; six great-grandchildren; one sister-in-law, Barb Stuart of Mexico; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, L.A. and Ruth Stuart; two brothers, Joe Ed Stuart and Lyndell A. Stuart Jr.; and one nephew, Bruce Stuart.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, or St. Croix Hospice. They may be sent in care of Arnold Funeral Home, 425 S. Jefferson Street, Mexico, MO 65265.

The Stuart family would like to extend their deepest appreciation to St. Croix Hospice, especially Shelby Vanlandingham and Gabby Robertson. Their kindness and compassion will be forever treasured.
