June volunteered in many capacities for the National Alliance on Mental Illness, and was recognized as the St. Louis Volunteer of the Year. Her volunteer passion was to honor her children, especially Doug who suffered from mental illness.

June was a bird fanatic and treasured birdwatching. She loved the log cabin which she and Ralph built in the woods with the help of their entire family.

Survivors include daughter Donna (James) Hare; son Steven (Debra) Kreyling, and grandchildren Matthew (Ashley) Kreyling and Peter (Kelsey) Kreyling. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph; son, Doug; brother, Raymond Mantler; nephew, Thomas Mantler; stepson, Edward Kreyling and step-grandson, Douglas Kreyling.

She accepted Christ as her savior late in life.
