Clarence Harden Spires, 83, of Mexico, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at Pin Oaks Living Center.

Memorial Graveside Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, August 28, at Elmwood Cemetery.

Clarence was born on January 31, 1943, in Vandalia, Missouri, the son of Ira Kay and Minnie Dillion Spires. He was married first to Shirley Irene Benton and later to Loretta Stoneberger.

Clarence worked as a truck driver for McGee Packing and Oliver Transportation. He was also a longtime member of the Mexico Elks Club, where he was a member for more than 40 years. Clarence and Loretta enjoyed square dancing with the Mexico Twirlers.

Survivors include his stepchildren, David (Jeanie) Walden and Cathy Drew; his former wife, Loretta Spires; four grandchildren, Brandon, Bradley, Camry and Danielle; four great-grandchildren, Kady, Evan, Kaylynn and Gavuin’; and several nieces and nephews.

Clarence was preceded in death by the love of his life, Shirley Spires; his son, Ronnie Spires; his companion, Kathy Eskew; stepdaughter, Cheryl Wilson Stoke; three brothers, Robert Spires, William Spires and infant Wayne Spires; and one sister, Vera Nadine Gordon.
