Charlesa Elaine Sargent, 75 of Mexico, passed away on Friday, December 6, 2024, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 10, at Arnold Funeral Home with Jed Angell officiating. Burial will follow at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Jacksonville.

Visitation is Tuesday morning from 9 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.

Charlesa was born on April 27, 1949 in Mexico, the daughter of Charles Edward and Gertrude Roumal (Sharp) Nichols. On November 19, 1968 in Mexico, she married Kenneth Mark Sargent. He passed away on September 9, 2011.

Charlesa graduated from Mexico High School in 1967 and then attended Kidwell Cosmetology School in Columbia, obtaining her cosmetology license. She worked as a hairstylist for 56 years, ending her career in August with Serenity Spa & Salon.

Mrs. Sargent was a Christian and had attended Mexico United Methodist Church. She dedicated several years to a King's Daughters Circle, was a member of the Hairdresser's Association and the Mexico Elks Lodge. Kenny and Charlesa loved a good party and anything Elvis. They enjoyed hosting close friends and family for holiday gatherings or card games. She and Kenny spent a large portion of their spare time camping and riding scooters. Charlesa was known for her cooking, was a huge fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, was very particular about her Longaberger baskets and cherished her family more than anything. She was eagerly anticipating the arrival of another great-grandchild in January. Christmas was Charlesa's absolute favorite holiday.

Survivors include her son, Curt Sargent of Mexico; two granddaughters, Kylie (Nick) Stumpe of Centralia and Lily Sargent of Sedalia; two great-grandchildren, Cooper and Jameson Stumpe and a great-granddaughter on the way; two brothers, Michael (Linda) Nichols of Mexico and Bruce Nichols of Centralia; sister-in-law, Jeanne Walters of Mexico; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Kenneth, Charlesa was preceded in death by her mother, Roumal Presnell; father, Charlie "Nick" Nichols; nephew, Jeff Nichols; and an aunt, Marilla Ransdell.

Memorial donations may be made to the King's Daughters Home or the Mexico Elks Lodge. Both may be sent in care of Arnold Funeral Home, 425 S. Jefferson Street, Mexico, MO 65265.
