Charles Harrison "Grinner" McAllister, 82, of Mexico, passed away on Tuesday, December 13, 2022, at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia.

Charles was born on June 3, 1940, in Centralia, the son of O.P. Lee and Ethel (Leonard) McAllister. On May 28, 1961, at Love Street Christian Church in Mexico, he married Carolyn Sue Estes.

Mr. McAllister was a 1958 graduate of Mexico High School. He started working at the Mexico Ledger at age 15 and eventually became a pressman. He had also worked at Pearl Motor Company during this time. Later, Charles went to T and H Auto Supply until working at A.P. Greens, retiring in May 2001. After retirement, Charles helped his wife with her daycare.

Grinner was a member of Kentucky Road Christian Church. He loved woodworking and was fan of the Missouri Tigers and the Mexico Bulldogs.

Survivors include his wife, Carolyn Sue McAllister; three children, Duane Todd McAllister of Dallas, Texas, Debra Lynne (Alan) Fuemmeler of Glasgow, and Brian Eric McAllister of Wichita Falls, Texas; seven grandchildren, Megan McAllister, Kaitlin McAllister, Makayla McAllister, Gwen McAllister, Nikki (Clay) Littrell, Logan Fuemmeler and Tara Fuemmeler; two great-grandchildren, Isaac McAllister and Leia Jo Littrell; one brother, Billy Dean McAllister; and numerous nieces and nephews. Charles is also survived by the many babysitting kids, affectionately known as the "McKids", that have blessed his life over the years. They have always held a special place in his heart.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Mary Lee Meine; and one brother, Larry McAllister.

Per Mr. McAllister's wishes, there will be no services.
