Charles Edmund Besalke, 64, of Centralia, passed away on Friday, October 10, at his home.

A celebration of life will be held from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M. on Saturday, October 18, 2025 at the Friendship Baptist Church in Mexico.

Ed was born on February 14, 1961 in Decatur, Illinois the son of Robert E. and Mary L. (Deardorff) Besalke.  On July 1, 1980 he married Brenda Phillips in Mexico.

Ed proudly served in the United States Air Force and brought that same dedication to every chapter of his life. A passionate beekeeper, he raised honey bees and gave back through his involvement with the Hives for Heroes organization, supporting fellow veterans. For over 30 years, Ed was the owner and operator of B & B Appliance, where his hard work and integrity earned the trust of his community. He also served as a judge for the SkillsUSA National Competition, sharing his expertise to help guide the next generation. Ed had many hobbies that brought him joy, including beekeeping, model trains, and woodworking. He had a soft spot for animals—especially squirrels, bears, his rescue dog "Ranger" and his beloved collection of plush toys. Above all, Ed was a devoted husband, father and papa, known for his big heart and his cheeky sense of humor that could brighten any room.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda Besalke of Centralia; five children, Bran (Beau) Besalke of St. Louis, Sara (Dexter) Bruce of Centralia, Jessica (Alex) Goodman of Centralia, Charlie (Kayla) Besalke of O'Fallon and Alex Besalke of Centralia; six grandchildren, Penny, Ana, Wesley, Peyton, Gracie and Phoenix; two sisters, Cindy Chafin of Georgia and Judi Besalke of Georgia and one aunt, Diana Deardorff of Centralia.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mary Besalke; one brother, Robert S. Besalke; two uncles, Danny Deardorff and Arlen Deardorff.

The family requests memorial donations be made to Hives for Heroes or Professional Service Association, checks made payable to PSA/RCAT (put in memo; Ed Besalke travel scholarship). Memorials may be sent in care of Arnold Funeral Home, 425 S. Jefferson, Mexico, MO 65265.
