Carolyn Ellen Potter, 79, of Mexico, passed away on Tuesday, June 28, 2022, at her home.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 2, at East Lawn Memorial Park with Chaplain Amy Evans officiating.

Carolyn was born on June 4, 1943, in Bluffs, Illinois, the daughter of Arthur and Rachel (Baird) Likes. In November 1989, she married A. Gene Potter.

Mrs. Potter graduated from Winchester (IL) High School. She then graduated from Illinois College and earned her Master's Degree in Public Administration and Taxation from the University of Missouri.

Carolyn was a Special Education teacher at the Murray Center in Illinois and then worked for the State of Missouri at the Youth Juvenile Center in Fulton, retiring in 2006.

Mrs. Potter was a member of the Methodist Church. She loved playing bridge and was an avid reader.

Survivors include her husband, A. Gene Potter of the home; one daughter, Amy Kelsey (Jim Broker) of Frankenstein; one son, John (Julie) Kelsey of Germantown, Maryland; three grandchildren, Mark Kelsey, Michael Kelsey and Jenny Kelsey, all of Germantown, Maryland; one brother, Stanley (Sandra) Likes of Pawnee, Illinois; three step-children, Michael Potter of Mexico, Geofrry (Pamela) Potter of Wrens, Georgia, and Jennifer (Eric) Collier of Sandersville, Georgia; and seven step-great-grandchildren, Bella and Aubrey Potter, both of Hannibal, Brookyln and Addison Potter, both of Wrens, Georgia, Abbie, Madison and Kayle Potter, all of Sandersville, Georgia.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents.
