Brenda Kay Byrd, 67, of Auxvasse, passed away on Sunday, May 26, 2024, at her home surrounded by her family.

A celebration of life will be held Sunday, June 9, 2024, at 2:00 pm at the Presbyterian Church, 104 E. Chestnut, Auxvasse.

Brenda was born on December 3, 1956, in Linneus, MO, the daughter of Carl and Margaret (Shoemaker) Ratliff.  On November 22,1973, she married the love of her life, Larry Byrd in Auxvasse.

Brenda spent her life in Auxvasse building her family and her business. Brenda loved her family and her friends and enjoyed them more than anything. Her and Larry celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2023. Some said they would never make it, but they held fast to their love, worked hard and overcame any trials they faced becoming even stronger partners over the years. We are so glad they did because they showed us what true love really meant.

Brenda was a well-known beautician for over 40 years. There were no strangers in our little community. Many locals would tell you, if you wanted to know what was happening around town, make an appointment; Brenda would definitely catch you up.  If she didn't know, she would find out and be sure to call you later.

Brenda was a caring generous woman that would travel to her clients or pick them up when they were unable to come to the shop. Her clients will tell you she was not just a beautician; she was their friend.

Brenda volunteered as a board member at the North Callaway Senior Center as Treasurer for many years.

One of her favorite pass times was jumping in the truck with Larry and driving country roads, listening to oldies but goodies. She and Larry also very much enjoyed boating and fishing. Brenda would be quick to tell you she could out fish any man. She also enjoyed watching her grandkids play sports, painting, gardening, and sitting on her porch watching the hummingbirds.

Brenda had a fun-loving spirit and loved to laugh. She played cards regularly with her dearest friends, where they would be found laughing and enjoying one another's company. These ladies also enjoyed their annual "Bitch Trip" where they spent a week on the beach. Brenda was dearly loved and will be missed by many.

Survivors include her husband, Larry Byrd of Auxvasse; one son, Larry Byrd, Jr. of Auxvasse; one daughter, Jamie Byrd of Auxvasse; four grandchildren, Ryan Byrd of Auxvasse, Gabe (Reyna) Cash of Mexico, Cody Cash of Auxvasse, Faith Cash of Auxvasse; two great-grandchildren, Elodie Byrd and Rowan Byrd; three brothers and four sisters.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Carl, and Margaret Ratliff and one sister, Margaret Ann.
