Bonnie Jean
Kimbel
Sep 20, 1941 — May 13, 2025
Bonnie Jean Kimbel, 83, of Mexico, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 13th, 2025, at King's Daughters Home in Mexico.
Visitation will be held at Arnold Funeral Home from 12 p.m. until 2 p.m. with funeral services following. Dr. Dave Leslie will be officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
Bonnie was born on September 20, 1941, to Estell Stone Baker and Lena Fay (Bowman) Baker in Kendall, Missouri. On December 27, 1959, she married Larry Kimbel in Shelbina, Missouri.
Bonnie had a green thumb for gardening, growing vibrant flowers and vegetables that brightened her yard and home. Her cooking skills were exceptional, highlighted during family gatherings and holidays. She took pride in decorating her home, which was frequently featured during the annual Christmas season. Bonnie was an accomplished pianist, seamstress and loved the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. She was a member of the Kentucky Road Christian Church, the First Baptist Church and later the First Presbyterian Church, all of Mexico. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bonnie volunteered at the Audrain County Historical Society, Presser Arts Center and Audrain Medical Center, working in the hospital gift shop for years. She also served as a den mother for her sons' Cub Scout troops. She loved to play bridge, pitch and was very hard to beat at Scrabble, as she had an extraordinary vocabulary. She had an affection for collecting decorative glass bridal baskets, and accumulated so many that the family has no idea what they are going to do with all of them! Bonnie also had a gift for typing, and more than a few times stayed up into the early morning hours typing term papers for her children who tended to procrastinate. Bonnie's legacy lives on through her family and the many, many lives she touched with her kindness and dedication.
Survivors include her husband, Larry Kimbel; children, Alan (Claudia) Kimbel, Kirk Kimbel, Dana (Steve) Licari and Craig Kimbel; grandchildren, Nikolas (Emily) Kimbel, Collette (Jorge) Bernal, Alexandra Kimbel, Nick (Crystal) Licari, Christine (Richard) Fay, and Matthew Kimbel; great-grandchildren, Paloma, Owen, Salvador, Charlotte and Austin, Hayley, Khloie, Hunter and Lily; two brothers, Keith Baker and Phil Baker; one sister, Karen White.
Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Charles Baker.
The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at The Arbors and King's Daughters Home for the exceptional care Bonnie received over the last few years.
Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Society in care of Arnold Funeral Home, 425 S. Jefferson St., Mexico, MO 65265.
