Billy G. Vanes, 77, of Mexico, passed away on Friday, October 13, 2023, at Pin Oaks Living Center.

Funeral Services will be at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, October 25, at Arnold Funeral Home. Visitation is Wednesday from 12 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home.

Billy was born on December 23, 1945, the son of James and Hallye (McDonald) Vanes.

Mr. Vanes was baptized at Second Missionary Baptist Church. He had also worked for the Mexico Ledger.

Survivors include his cousins, Pamela Tolson of Tullahoma, Tennessee, and her two children, Dustin Tolson of Knoxville, Tennessee, and Allison Eady of Madison, Alabama, Toni (Harold) Fountain of Mexico, Nancy (Joe Lee) Pitts of Springfield, Illinois, Christine Scott of Texas, Twila (Sherman) Overton of Mexico, Doris "Chenie" McDonald of Texas and Robert E. McDonald of Kentucky; and many other extended family members.

Mr. Vanes was preceded in death by his parents, James and Hallye Vanes; and grandparents, Cecil and Hattie Vanes and Alberta and Martha Ann McDonald.
