Betty E. Tate of Overland Park, Kansas, formerly of Mexico, passed away on Tuesday, November 9, 2021, at her home.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Saturday, November 13, at Arnold Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Rev. Mark Avery is officiating.

Visitation will be from 1:00 P.M. until time of services at the funeral home.

Betty was born on November 2, 1925, in Mexico, the daughter of Robert Francis and Georgia (Mapes) Tanner. She married Omar Leo Tate, Sr. on September 1, 1941, in Mexico. He preceded her in death on December 14, 2000.

Mrs. Tate worked at a shoe factory, drove a school bus and helped her husband with his carpentry business. Her favorite hobby was oil painting.  She had even taken classes with Bob Ross and was mentioned by him on one of his shows for her unique signature, Grandpa's Wife.

Betty is survived by two sons, Omar Leo (Edna) Tate, Jr. of Climax Springs, MO and Ian (Gail) Tate of Baxter Springs, KS; two daughters, Wanita Tate and Rebecca (Gene) Jaynes both of Fort Scott, KS; 21 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and great-great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Omar Leo Tate, Sr.; one son, Robert Tate; three daughters, Elaine Craghead, Bessie Williams and Patty Tate; and two grandsons, Seth Tate and Callie Dobbs.
