Betty Lois Potts, 82, of Springfield, formerly of Mexico, passed away on Friday, December 23, 2022, at the James River Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Springfield.

Betty was born on October 26, 1940, in Calwood, Mo, the daughter of Thomas H. and Helen G. (Brandenburg) Black. On August 15, 1958, in Mexico, she married William B. "Bill" Potts. He passed away on August 2, 2015.

Mrs. Potts graduated from Mexico High School. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Mexico.

Betty enjoyed spending time with her family and good friends, listening to country music, crossword puzzles and helping others.

Survivors include one son, Jeffrey W. (D. Jean) Potts of Licking; one daughter, Jennifer L. Potts of Springfield; two grandchildren, Wesley B. Potts and Sydney S. (Brady) Melugin of Springfield; one brother, Jerry (Cindy) Black of Evergreen, Colorado; two sisters-in-law, Sandy Black of Mexico and Marjie Black of Columbia; one brother-in-law, Fred Branham of Mexico; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, Bill, Betty was preceded in death by three brothers, Charlie "C.T." (Mary Edith) Black, William "Bill" Black and Oscar Black; and two sisters, Mary Sue Branham and Linda Baldwin.

Memorial donations may be made to the First Christian Church of Mexico, MO.

Private graveside services will be in East Lawn Memorial Park in Mexico.
