Betty Ann Maassen, 93, of Mexico, passed away on Friday, February 13, 2026, at the King's Daughters Home in Mexico.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, February 17, at Arnold Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home.

Betty was born on July 2, 1932, in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of Jake and Nellie (Gallagher) Huffman. She was blessed with five siblings: John, Helen, Mildred, Nellie, and Roy. At the age of six, Betty moved with her family to Americus, where she attended school in a one-room schoolhouse. Later, she attended Montgomery City High School.

On October 21, 1950, she married Kenneth Parsons. Together they shared many wonderful years and were blessed with two children, Linda (Fred) Forster and John (Cheryl) Parsons. Betty cherished her family and especially enjoyed her four grandchildren, Kimberly (Fred) Gauna, Pamela (Seth) Gaddie, Jake (Katie) Parsons, and Lindsay (Brenden) Neville; and five great-grandchildren, Amelia, Emalyn, and Ilayna Gauna, Keeley Gaddie, and Everett Neville.

Betty was well known for her baking and made countless cakes for families throughout the area over the years. In 1974, she and Kenneth opened Parsons Pastry Shop, where they proudly served fresh donuts daily. In addition to her baking talents, Betty also sold Avon, Mary Kay, Home Interiors, Shaklee, and Nikken magnetic jewelry throughout the years.

She and Kenneth enjoyed traveling together, with Betty especially fond of their trip to British Columbia. She often shared the memory of walking on Mount St. Helens in Washington State just one year before its eruption.

Following Kenneth's passing on March 5, 1997, Betty later married Gilbert Martin on December 28, 1998. They remained married until his death on October 7, 2005. In June 2007, she married Ed Maassen, and they shared their lives together until his passing on September 6, 2010.

In addition to her husbands, Betty was also preceded in death by an infant son, Robert Wayne.

Betty spent her final years at the King's Daughters Home in Mexico, where she was lovingly cared for.
