Betty Jean Bishop, 91, of Mexico, passed away on Friday, July 19, 2024, at the King's Daughters Home.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, July 24, at Arnold Funeral Home with Rev. Joe Pike officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery.

Visitation is Wednesday from 1-2 p.m. at the funeral home.

Betty was born on January 7, 1933, in California, Missouri, the daughter of Raymond and Pearl Mae (Helming) Bishop, Sr. She graduated from Mexico High School and then served in the U.S. Air Force.

Ms. Bishop had worked for the garment factory in Vandalia, Whirlaway Café and Crown Linen. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Mexico.

Survivors include one brother, Donald (Joann) Bishop of Mexico; and eight nieces and nephews, Michalene, Myra, Susan, Barbara, Harold, Cindy, Jeff, and Karla.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Raymond Bishop, Jr.; two sisters, Dorothy Strait and infant Bonnie Sue Bishop; and a niece, Vicki Strait.
