Anthony “Tony” Broeker, age 62, of Mexico, Missouri, passed away at University Hospital on November 2nd, 2026, after a brief but hard-fought battle with cancer. Tony was born October 4, 1964, in Mexico, Missouri, to Bonnie Moran and Alvin Broeker.
Tony is survived by his loving wife, best friend, and partner, Julie Broeker; his sons: Grant Broeker, Wyler Broeker, Jason Moore, his stepson, whom he always accepted as his own; his father, Alvin Broeker; his siblings: Lisa Cornell (Randy), Lori Turner (David), Scott Broeker, Eric Kinder (Julie), Leah Gonzalez (Fernando), Ryan Broeker (Amy); his Uncle Gary and his Aunt Janet Moran; and his numerous beloved cousins and his extended family.
Tony’s childhood was tumultuous due to the time he spent in foster homes and being passed around to others. Only thanks to the guidance of his older sister Lisa, who took on the role of caregiver; his Uncle Gary and Aunt Janet Moran, who acted as his parents; and his great-granny Brown, was he able to become the self-made man we all came to love. Tony joined the Navy right out of high school and, after an honorable discharge, put himself through the University of Missouri’s College of Engineering to become a highly sought-after, well-respected mechanical engineer. Tony never had someone to lend him a helping hand, and he wasn’t the type of person to acknowledge one even if it was offered. Everything he had; everything he accomplished; everything he gave his wife and children was the product of his own hard work.
Tony was a beacon of light and always the life of the party. Tony never met a stranger and would find friends wherever he traveled. He never told a story that didn’t grab the attention of everyone within earshot. While some exaggerations were told, the entertainment was never missing. Tony was a person who never hesitated to offer a helping hand.
Tony loved golf, gravel road riding, grilling good food for those he loved, football, and engineering. While Tony always looked forward to working on the family farm with Jason or friend gatherings, his favorite part of the week was his and Julie’s Sunday rides, where they would enjoy their time together and solve all of the world’s problems, and his weekly B’s and G’s, which he had been missing during his illness. After everything Tony achieved in life, the thing he was most proud of was his wife and three children.
Visitation services will be held at Arnold Funeral Home on Sunday, November 8th, from 2-5 p.m. Funeral services will be held at St. Brendan’s Catholic Church on Monday, November 9th, starting at 10 a.m.
