Anna Louise Bernhart, 91, of Mexico, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at the King's Daughters Home, surrounded by her loving family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 31, at St. Brendan Catholic Church, with Father David Veit officiating. A private family burial will follow at St. Brendan Cemetery.

Anna was born on February 4, 1934, in San Antonio, Texas, the daughter of Edward F. and Rose Marie Heusinger. On June 14, 1958, she was united in marriage to David M. Bernhart Sr. in San Antonio, Texas. He preceded her in death on August 25, 2022.

Anna was a graduate of the University of Texas and devoted her career to education. She taught elementary school for many years at St. Vincent de Paul School in Denver, Colorado, where she was known for her compassionate heart and deep love for children. She took great pride in helping students succeed and was instrumental in developing special reading programs to support young learners.

Following her retirement, Anna continued her passion for teaching and service by volunteering as a tour guide at the Denver Zoo. She was actively involved in the zoo's educational programs and enjoyed teaching children's classes there. Anna had a lifelong love for animals and nature, which brought her great joy.

Anna loved traveling to the ocean, but above all, her greatest joy was her family. Her grandchildren held a very special place in her heart, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Survivors include five children: David Martin Bernhart Jr. of Denver, Colorado; Ervin Michael Bernhart (Laurine Garrity) of San Francisco, California; Gregory Thomas (Anne) Bernhart of Westhampton, New York; Valine Marie (Peter) Perll of Mexico; and Jeanine Edith Bernhart of Los Angeles, California; twelve grandchildren, Kathyrn (Alex) Salmons, Michael Perll, Anna (Clay) Stofferahn, Vincent Perll, James Perll, Nicole (Gene) DeVito, Anne Marie Bernhart, Catherine Bernhart, Alex Bernhart (Siobhan Klinkenberg), Chris Bernhart (Ana Duarte), Victoria Bernhart, and Anessa Bernhart; and four great-grandchildren, Caroline and Charlotte Salmons, and Jordan and Isla Rose DeVito.

In addition to her husband, Anna was preceded in death by her parents, Edward F. and Rose Marie Heusinger, and two brothers, Edward F. Heusinger and Felix D. Heusinger.
