Ann Mudd

Anastasia "Ann" Louise Mudd, 88, of Mexico, passed away on Monday, October 18, 2021, at the King's Daughters Home in Mexico.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 22, at St. Brendan Catholic Church in Mexico with Fr. Tom Alber officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Brendan Cemetery.  Visitation is Thursday evening from 5-7 p.m. at Arnold Funeral Home, 425 S, Jefferson, Mexico.

Ann was born on June 20, 1933 in Dardenne, MO to Aloysius and Honora (McLaughlin) Meinert.  She married Patrick Mudd on December 1, 1951, in Laddonia, MO, a loving marriage that lasted more than 67 years, until his death in 2019.

Ann was a homemaker and partner with Pat in managing the family farm.  She was employed by Audrain County University Extension from 1980 until her retirement in 1998 but continued working when needed for many years after retiring.

Ann was very active in 4-H as a project and club leader.  She was a member of St Brendan's Ladies Sodality, Home & School organization, and was co-chair of the church's funeral dinner committee for many years.  She served as an election poll worker and volunteered at Audrain Medical Center and the Mexico Senior Center.

An accomplished seamstress, Ann created many articles of clothing for her family.  She began quilting later in life and has blessed her children and grandchildren with numerous keepsakes.

Ann was interested in researching family genealogy.  In 2011, she wrote and published a book on the Mudd and Meinert family history.  She also assisted in documenting and compiling the history of St Brendan Church which was published as a book in 2007 to commemorate the parish's 150 ^th anniversary.

Ann was recognized in 1993 with the University Extension Staff Recognition Award.  The Mudd family was honored as the 1976 Bicentennial 4-H Family for Audrain County, and Pat and Ann also received the 1997 Dale H. Schnarre Rural Citizen Award from the Mexico Chamber of Commerce.

Survivors include six children, Joyce (Jim) Flynn of Duluth, GA, Brenda (Wes) Goodwin of Altamonte Springs, FL, Donna (Danny) Johanning of Columbia, Carol Mudd of Jefferson City, Dale (Donna) Mudd of Mexico, and Debbie (Tom) Paule of Ballwin; 11 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth (Cletus) Heldman of Aberdeen, MD, sisters-in-law, Dorothy (Don) Dick of Mexico, Anita Meinert of Germantown Hills, IL, and Beverly Meinert of Pierceton, IN; and numerous nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband Pat, four brothers and three sisters.
