Obituary
Ola Mae Burchfield, 90, of Mexico died Thursday July 22, 2010 at Audrain Medical Center.
Ola Mae was born on Oct. 9, 1919 in Lebanon to John M and Inez R. (Crump) Burchfield.
Ola Mae worked for 44 years at A.P. Green Refractories. Miss Burchfield was the first woman to complete 40 years of service with the company not just in Mexico, but in the entire U.S.
She began her career in 1937 as the only bookkeeping machine operator for all accounts receivable, and accounts payable. At the time of her retirement she was a supervisor of payroll services.
Ola Mae was a member of the Mexico United Methodist Church.
She served on the state board of directors of the King’s Daughters Home, and also served on the administrative board of the Mexico United Methodist Church. She was a Sunday school teacher for over 30 years, and was also the district secretary and treasurer of the United Methodist Women.
Ola Mae is survived by 12 nieces, nephews and extended family.
Miss Burchfield was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sisters, Ruth Slonaker, Fern Burchfield; 6 brothers, James, William, Graydon, Carl, Charles, and John Burchfield.
