Obituary
Leo R. Heim,Sr., age 88 of Mexico, died Tuesday, July 20, 2010 at Audrain Medical Center.

Leo was born on April 22, 1922 in Topeka, KS, the son of Joseph A. and Rose M. (Swinger) Heim. He was raised in Kansas and entered the U.S. Army on Dec. 23, 1940. He was stationed in the Aleutian Islands during WWII and was discharged on Sept. 24, 1945. On June 21, 1946 he married Lillie “Terry” Young in Hiawatha, KS. They were married for 59 years before she preceded him in death on Feb. 22, 2006.

Leo and his wife and family moved to Mexico in June, 1964. He was the Superintendant of the Waste Water Treatment Plant, twice winning the State Operator of the Year from the State of MO.

He is survived by a son, Leo Heim, Jr. and Kathy of Erie, IL, daughters Renae Rowe and Dennis of Mexico and Vicki Crowdis and Donnie of Mexico; nine grandchildren, Krista Naftzger and Neil of DeKalb, IL, Nick Heim of Dubuque, Iowa, Brian Rowe and Kristen, Brad Rowe and Julie, Mike Rowe and Amy, and David Rowe and Amanda all of Mexico, Stephanie Barr of Paris, Stacey Qualls of Mexico, and Abbie Miller and Steve of Mexico. He is also survived by 20 great-grandchildren and a sister Rosemary Pinkley of Topeka, KS.

In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by seven brothers and two sisters.

Memorials may be made to the J.B. and Greeta B. Arthur Cancer Center or the Donor’s Choice.
