Obituary
John Melvin “Smokey” Hamilton, 74 of Mexico, died at 4 p.m. Monday, June 28, 2010 at Audrain Medical Center.

Mel was born Aug. 12, 1935 in Benton City, the son of Alfred Stanley “Jack” and Annabel (Berry) Hamilton. On Oct. 21, 1956 in Mexico, he married Lois L. Snow. She survives at the home.

Mr. Hamilton had worked for 53 years at Garden Gate Florist. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene, where he had served as head trustee and usher. Mel was a World War II hobbyist and collected World War II memorabilia. He loved watching all cop shows and loved to hunt and fish.

In addition to his wife, Lois, Mel is survived by his children, Randy Hamilton and wife, Kathi of Mexico, Penny Durham and husband, Terry of Mexico and Phil Hamilton and wife, Marie of Camdenton; and eight grandchildren, Alisha Hamilton, Sam Durham, Rachel (David) Prior, and Nathan, Seth, Sara, Kaitlyn and Michalia Hamilton.

Mel was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mary Hamilton.
