Obituary
James Arthur Blanton III, 72 of Mexico, died at 7:40 p.m. Saturday, May 22, 2010 at Audrain Medical Center.
James was born July 24, 1937 in Keytesville, the son of James Arthur and Josephine (Collins) Blanton III. In 1962, he married Betty Martin in Kansas City. She died on July 31, 1983.
Mr. Blanton was a member of Second Missionary Baptist Church in Mexico. He was a self-employed auto mechanic, had managed a barbershop and was in the printing field. He loved to fish and hunt, playing with grandkids and liked to invent things.
Survivors include his mother, Josephine Blanton of Indianapolis, IN; four sisters, Jean (Robert) Christopher of Savannah, Georgia, Maxine Woodmore of Indianapolis, IN, Lois Blanton of Indianapolis, IN and Glenda (Ted) Allen of Kansas City; his children, Greg Duncans of Mt. Vernon, WA, James A. (Deidra) Blanton IV of Hawthorne, CA, Troy Blanton of Columbia, Tanisha (Paul) Phelps of Mexico, Jonathan Blanton of Mexico, Joseph Blanton of Columbia and June Blanton of Lake Jackson, Texas; 13 grandchildren, Lejani Smalls, Gregory Duncans II, Nichelle Duncans, Jonathan Blanton, Deonna Wieberg, Dewinston Blanton, Ravyn Phelps, Allyn Phelps, Kross Phelps, Kobi Phelps, Kamon Phelps, Jazmyn Blanton and Jordyn Blanton; and two great-grandchildren, Ajoney Smalls and Juan Smalls II.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Joann Blanton.
