James (Tex) Julius Strickland, 86 of Pittsburg, KS passed away at 7:45 a.m. on April 30, 2010 in Pittsburg, KS.
James was born May 3, 1923 in Krum, Texas to Merril and Velma (Farquhar) Strickland. On December 4, 1950 he married Barbara Maxine Bell who preceded him in death in 1987.
James is survived by nine children, Julia Flowers and husband Gail of Texas, Nelma L. Burch and husband Glendale of Oklahoma, Kathy Miller of Fulton, Susie Armstrong and husband Steve of Pittsburg, KS, Joe Strickland of Fulton, Tommy Strickland of Fulton, Paul Strickland and wife Kim of Mexico, May Jean Burks of Jefferson City, Margie Rucker and husband Gary of Lake St. Louis; one sister Bobbi Montgomery of Ohio; 28 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife he was preceded in death by two sons, Charles and Bobby Strickland, a granddaughter Kimberly Spurling, a grandson Sanford Strickland, two brothers, Bud Harris Strickland and Floyd Love Strickland; and two sisters, Elsie Lee Grand and Evelyn Estelle Lacker.
