Obituary
James Forsythe Smithey, age 75 years, of Mexico, passed away Friday, April 2, 2010, while a resident at Golden Living Center Pin Oaks.

James was born October 6, 1934, in Mexico, to Stockwell and Anna Maud Smithey. On November 14, 1954 he married Mary Alice Miller. He farmed his entire life, and over the years raised several types of livestock and crops. He was a lifelong member of Littleby Baptist Church. James was a friend to everyone, and never met a stranger. He was able to converse about almost any topic and shared his opinions freely.

James is survived by his wife of 55 years. He is also survived by his three children: Janice Beth Garner and her husband, Allen, of Independence; Dena Kay Matthews of Mexico; and Timothy James Smithey of Mexico. Also surviving are four grandchildren: Trenton James Matthews and wife, Ryon, of Kansas City, Missouri; Rachel Marie Johnson and husband, Kevin, of Independence; Kyle Stephen Garner of Independence, and Carter Thomas Smithey of Lake Waukomis. He is also survived by one brother, Louis, of Mexico. James was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, George, and one grandson, James Tyler Smithey.
