Obituary
Steve Totten, 64 of Mexico, died at 12:10 P.M., Thursday March 11, 2010 at his home.
Steve was born on December 28, 1945 in Canton, Illinois, the son of Paul and Mildred (Toncray) Totten. On September 21, 1990 he married Kaye Cupp, in Mexico.
Steve was in the United States air force from 1965-1969 and served one tour in Vietnam. After the military he worked at JFK International Airport in New York City, he then returned to Mexico where he farmed and worked at National Refactories until he retired in 2003. Steve was a member of the Elks lodge. He was also a VFW commander for the past 20 years, where he called bingo every Thursday night. He was instrumental in the Visual Glory display at the Missouri Veterans Home. On December 19, 2009 Kit Bond presented Steve with a flag that was flown at the capital in Washington DC on December 9, 2009 to honor his service to the veterans and the Mexico community. At the same time he was also presented a flag that was flown at a base in Kosovo.
In addition to his wife Kaye, he is survived by two sons, Ryan C. Totten of Fulton and Matthew D. Totten of Kansas City; three step-children, who were like his own, Steve Cupp of Mexico, Jeff Cupp and wife Victoria of Paris and Janna Blackburn and husband Jeff of Mexico; six grandchildren, Carson Blackburn and Camryn Blackburn of Mexico, and Amber Cupp, Amie Cupp of Mexico, Mollie Cupp, Elizabeth Cupp, of Paris and one brother Bob Totten and wife Janie of Ashland. Janna provided many hours of loving care throughout his illness.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
