Obituary
Maggie Marie Burgert, age 91 of Mexico, died Monday, Nov. 16, 2009 at Audrain Medical Center.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, Nov. 21st at 11:00 a.m. at the Arnold Funeral Home. Rev. Jerry Ostrom will officiate.
She was born in Newport, Arkansas on July 14, 1918, the daughter of John B. and Mary Agnes (Swafford) Holloway. She married Charles Burgert on April 12, 1969 in Rockford, IL. He preceded her in death in 1980.
She had worked for Amrock in Rockford for many years, retiring in 1982. In 1983 she moved to Mexico, MO.
Survivors include a daughter Joyce Harvey of Mexico, a son James Smith and wife Betty of Rockford, IL, 13 grandchildren; Dwight Campbell and Marty of Mexico, Keith Campbell of St. Joseph, Jackie Sheffield of Lake Village, Ark., Sandra Stellern and Kurt of Roscoe, IL, David Bonsall and Heather of Mexico, Lynnette Roemer and Kurt of Glenview, IL, Lisa Tyran and Chris of Wadsworth, IL, Brad Reed and Christine Lundholm of Rockford, IL, Paul Smith and Terri of Tucson, AZ, Jody Smith and Denise of Bullhead City, AZ, Janet Kohntopp and Les of Miles City, Montana, Dr. James Burgert and Elizabeth of San Antonio, TX, and Charles Burgert and Joan of Idaho Falls, Idaho. She is also survived by 33 great-grandchildren and 20 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by a son Joe Smith, two grandsons; Steve Burgert and Jeff Reed, a great-granddaughter Amanda Reed, two brothers and four sisters.
Maggie loved her family and enjoyed family gatherings, bowling, and working in her yard.
Memorials may be made to the Cancer Society or Audrain County Hospice.
