Obituary
James “Jim” P. Oliver, 46, of Watertown, formerly of Mexico, Missouri, passed away at his home Monday, October 5, 2009.
James Paul Oliver was born in Mexico, MO, on April 17, 1963, son of Sam and Lillie (Jesse) Oliver. He was a 1981 high school graduate in Mexico, Missouri.
Jim married Jeannine Fisher in February of 1990 in Mexico, Missouri. They relocated to Watertown in 1998 from Mexico, MO.
In 1979, he started his flooring career at Erdel & Wood Home Improvement Center in Mexico, Mo. He then apprenticed as installer and started Jim Dandy Installations, his personal residential floor covering business. Jim was a certified flooring installer, and was widely known and respected in the area.
He was employed at Nonns Flooring in Middleton, WI for many years. He was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters & Joiners of America, Local #314. He also trained union apprentices. From 2000 to 2001, he went to New York to apprentice with master craftsman to expand his knowledge base. Jim would continually challenge himself and others in the trade to ensure the highest quality standards were met.
Jim was very thorough, meticulous, and a well thought out person in every aspect of his life. Being an avid outdoorsman, he and his wife loved to canoe, camp and travel. Jim had a natural eye for photography and was very talented.
Survivors include his wife, Jeannine Oliver of Watertown; his parents, Sam and Lillie Oliver of Mexico, MO; his two sisters, Tammy (Doug) Appling of Versailles, KY; Michelle Current of Mexico, MO; his in-laws, Kenneth (Carolyn) McIntosh of New London, MO; Bonita (Delmer) Fisher of Paris, MO; numerous brothers and sisters-in-law; nieces, nephews, who he loved spending time with; his “feline four-legged children”, Judy and Briggs.
Jim was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Sam and Evalean Oliver and his maternal grandparents, Paul and Marion Jesse.
